My first fishing trip of the year. I have been wanting to get out for SO LONG!!! My last trip was in August 2010. There are a few factors that come into play for me to get out. #1 I need to have the day off from work and have nothing else to #2 the fishing has to be decent #3 I have to be able to afford it.

So I had to jump at the chance to get out today. Fishing had been pretty good, the weather has been incredible and I still have a paid ticket to use up!

There ended up being a lot of people on the boat so fishing deeper water was not an option. We anchored up and fished for rock fish.

There was a slow bite and I managed to get a few. One of my favorite things about being out on the water is all the things we get to see.

Today was probably one of the most amazing days for whale watching. We saw gray whales on the way down, then when we stopping by the islands we saw finback whales and hundreds of dolphins! The best was on the way back in I saw a whale breaching....it was so beautiful!!!!

I love being out on the ocean!!!

Whale Watching

I think it is funny that the first boat ride I take after starting my new blog isn't a fishing trip we went whale watching!
It was a gorgeous day and we got to see about 6 whales!
The kids had a good time and it would have been a perfect trip if my daughter Kat had listened to me and not tried to go down the ladder on her own. She ended up falling and hitting her face on the deck. It was exactly what I was afraid would happen. Now she has made sure that I won't be taking her out again for a while.

The good news is they didnt get sick YAY! I cant wait to take them fishing!!!

I started fishing when I was 11 or 12 years old with my mom. I still remember the very first trip she took me on. I can't even begin to number the trips we have taken since then but it is definitely my favorite hobby when I can afford to go....

My hope is to write about the trips I take, share the photos and share the fish stories past and future.

I also want to write about my newest fishing buddy...my son "Bugs" he has taken 2 trips with me and is already HOOKED! I cant wait to watch his love for the ocean and fishing grow!
